I started in Vietnam Today, Tuesday- 41 people, including government officials, were tried on charges of $ 45 million, as part of a large-scale campaign to combat corruption in the Communist state.
A campaign against corruption, which was called the “burning oven”, extended to dozens of senior government figures, including two presidents and 3 prime minister, in addition to senior businessmen.
In the latest case, a court began in the capital Hanoi Procedures against 30 former officials in the Vinh Fook provinces, Fu Thu Shamiti, and the Central Kwwang Nagai Province.
11 others – businessmen and company employees – are also accused of being involved in corruption that the prosecution says has caused damage to the country that exceeds 1.16 trillion Dong ($ 44.6 million).
They are also accused of crimes that include bribery, abuse of power, and violation of tender and accounting laws.
Public prosecutors say that between 2010 and 2024, Ngawin Van Hao, head of the Fook Sun Group, spent more than $ 5 million on bribes of officials to win contracts in 14 billions of dollars in infrastructure projects in the three provinces.
The prosecutors added that Hao was preparing bags full of money to the offices of the officials or their private homes in exchange for bribes.
Huang Thi -Lan, the former head of the ruling party in Vinh Fook County, received the largest bribes from Haw, whose total reached nearly two million dollars, in bags of 60 kilograms weighing.
Last April, Vietnam sentenced the former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade 6 years in prison after being convicted of “abuse of power” in a plan to develop solar energy.
Huang Kok Fung, 62, admitted a bribe of more than $ 57,000 to support solar power plants in the southern province of Nina Thani, but his family paid the amount before pronouncing the ruling.
