Is bone health an anxiety for men? | health

A new survey showed that only 1% of men consider bone health to constitute a source of concern for them, although the weakness of bone leads to severe consequences.

Women are usually subject to bone density tests to detect Osteoporosis (Osteoporosis), at the same time, men do not realize that they are at risk only after they are broken.

The survey was conducted by the Wayyu State University of Ohio in the United States between the second and fifth of last May, and the Yurik Alier website was written about it.

“It is a silent disease, remains silent until some noise occurs, and this applies to fractures,” said Dr. Paul Louis, an interventional radiologist at the Wayyu Medical Center of Ohio, who often treats patients with spine fractures and pelvis.

The National Spine Health Corporation in the United States estimates that two million men with osteoporosis, which means that the bones become porous and gradually losing their density and strength, which exposes individuals at greater risk of bone fractures, even from simple fall.

16 million men suffer from osteopenia, a condition in which the density of minerals in the bone decreases from natural reference values, but it is not low enough to comply with the criteria for diagnosing osteoporosis.

The loss of testosterone contributes to the weakness of the bone, so men must be more aware of the osteoporosis as they are old.

Louis recommends that the start of talking to their doctor about bone health at the age of 30, to give themselves time to prevent bone weakness and mood.

The poll found that Cancer (32%) is the first health concern for men, followed Heart disease (30%). Other main concerns include Obesity (18%) and sexual health (8%). With many other urgent medical concerns, men are often surprised by their osteoporosis.

Dr. Lewis said that the fracture may be fatal to the elderly, and for this reason prevention is very important.

“If resistance exercises are not practiced at an early age, it is 30 or 40, it may start with a loss of up to 3% of your bone mass annually,” said Dr. Louis.

Bone density can be restored by exercising and proper nutrition and refraining from smoking.

“If we maintain more active lifestyles for a longer period of age, we expect less bone loss,” says Louis.

In addition, as soon as a person has fractures of the spine due to osteoporosis, an interventional radiologist can treat them with vertebrae procedures in a hump or vertebrae evaluation.

During the vertebrae calendar in the hump, a small balloon is inserted into the broken vertebra and inflated to create a cavity, then the bone cement (industrial material made of methyl methacrillas) is injected into the cavity to stabilize the fracture and treat pain.

The vertebrae evaluation includes osteoporosis injection directly into the broken paragraph without using a balloon, providing immediate installation and pain relieving.

Both processes aim to relieve pain, restore high vertebrae, and enhance the stability of the spine, allowing patients to restore their functions and their ability to move.

These operations are performed under the influence of light anesthesia and guidance with fluorine photography. Patients have a short recovery period and a faster recovery compared to open surgery.
