The 20th session of the Alexandria International Book Library will start next week with the participation of 78 Egyptian and Arab publishing houses with the organization of a series of cultural and artistic events with the participation of about 800 guests.
The exhibition, which was first launched in 2002, is organized by the Library of Alexandria in cooperation with the Egyptian General Book Authority, the Egyptian Publishers Union and the Arab Publishers Union.
The exhibition extends from the seventh to the 21st of July with a program that includes 215 events, including seminars, meetings and workshops.
Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Library of Alexandria, said in a statement today, Wednesday, that the exhibition’s figure for this year “is the former Moroccan Foreign Minister and thinker Mohamed bin Issa, one of the former members of the Board of Trustees of the Alexandria Library, who left in March 2025.”
This year, the exhibition is devoted to a children’s pavilion, which includes more than 15 publishing houses specialized in printing and publishing children’s books. It also devotes a pavilion to the old and rare books sold in the wall of Azbakeya.
Mohamed Suleiman, deputy director of the Library of Alexandria, told Reuters that the new session of the exhibition focuses on the idea of rooting the Egyptian identity and preserving heritage, by launching 7 projects to document cultural and oral heritage on the sidelines of the exhibition.
He explained that the program also includes artistic activities such as the performances of the argos in the library’s external square to introduce children to this art.
This year, the exhibition will witness the distribution of the Grand Reading Competition Awards organized by the Library of Alexandria. The ceremony will be held on July 17.
