The movie “In the Ezz Al -Dahr” entered the Egyptian box office competition a few days ago to face both “project X” and “Restart”, the two films shown before Eid al -Adha in a cinematic season still at its beginning.
“In Ezz Al -Dahr” directed by Mark Adel, written by Karim Sorour, starring Mina Masoud, Sherine Reda, Bayoumi Fouad, Jamila Awad, Mahmoud Al -Bazawi, Iman Al -Assi and Mahmoud Hijazi.
The film is the first Egyptian championship of the Canadian actor of Egyptian origin, Mina Masoud, who was famous globally after its star in the famous Disney movie “Aladdin”.
The absent details “in the Ezz Al -Dahr”
“In the Ezz Al -Dahr” the movie “Action”, which is one of the most popular cinematic species among Arab viewers in recent years. The film makers tried to get out a little from the traditional style of this type by adding complicated personal details to the movie’s hero Hamza (Mina Masoud). He is not just an international criminal and a small gang president that steals the most important banks around the world to acquire dangerous documents, but also a young man who is unaware after Egyptian citizenship was dropped from him, and this nationality becomes like a thorn in the back of Hamza, in addition to his complex past.
By flashback, we get to know Hamza’s childhood, the child who was raised with a family that does not belong to him biologically, and his older brother rejects it for this reason. Hamza and his lawyer (Mahmoud Al -Bazawi) seeks to prove his lineage to another person, which we understand from the context that it is very difficult. Then the years jump, so we know that Hamza was raised in a reform, before he escaped outside Egypt and his career begins a professional international criminal.
However, Hamza’s past, as important, is not the sufficient basis for an action movie. The hero must conduct a process that becomes the concern of the spectators, and here is the task presented by Bernadet (Sherine Reda), the charming blond woman who requires him to steal important documents from an Egyptian bank, which raises tension and nostalgia Hamza towards Egypt.
Things are more complicated as soon as Hamza arrives in Egypt, as he faces personalities from his past and pressure for his beloved Maryam (Jamila Awad), in addition to the difficulty of the task that he is subjected to legal accountability, and even the risk of death if he was arrested.

The story “in the Ezz Al -Dahr” appears logical and exciting on paper, but in the context of the cinematic film she missed many necessary details, such as the reasons for the enmity between Bernadette and Hamza, which made him hesitate to accept this task, or the reason behind the difficulty of proving his lineage to his father, or the cause behind the fall of citizenship.
The film also draws details that are assumed to be realistic, but it is drowned in imagination and lack of logic. February deals as if she is an international spy that is no less dangerous than Sonia Graham, the fictional character in the stories of the “impossible man” for adolescents, she is beautiful, smart and very violent, and most importantly, she has her own army of non -citizenship, such as Hamza and his colleague Sandra (Iman Al -Assi) of Lebanese Syrian origins, and Divo who mimics his northern African accent.
Action has finished the first shot
The movie “In the Ezz Al -Dahr” begins an enthusiastic start, as it opens with a scene for the hero while jumping from inside a bank on the back of a motorcycle, and has completed his mission to steal important documents. He moves from a motorcycle to a four -wheel drive car, and from there to a boat in the sea while a helicopter is chasing it, in a sequence that is similar to many action sequences in American films.
However, this opening scene is the only one that contains a real action in the film, while the action scenes of the basic process that revolve around one of the Egyptian banks come meager and closer to the funny, and simulates the movie “Shaved Hosh”, a comedy film producing 1997 in which the heroine and two of its neighbors steal a small bank imitating a foreign film they watched.
The main process in Egypt branches into several smaller plots, and unnecessarily new dramatic lines, such as the Egyptian bank thief, which Hamza uses instead of his primary team, and who decides to steal the documents for himself and he does not know their importance, benefit or way of benefiting from them. Hamza is forced to carry out an additional operation to restore it from a hotel, or the incomprehensible link between his non -biological brother Sharif Al -Lehayani (Bayoumi Fouad) and the secret documents that drive the latter to appear in the last scenes of the film to present a very traditional evil.
The movie “At Ezz Al -Dahr” appears to be similar to many American films in a kind of theft through the country, an attractive thief and a multinational gang, with a clear national touch in Hamza Al -Shazid to restore his Egyptian nationality. However, his problem is not only in similarities with these American films, but also in the extreme surface that its full details are treated.
For example, the filmmakers chose Egyptian representatives, Iman Al -Assi and Mahmoud Hegazy to present the role of Sandra Syrian and the Moroccan Divo, and neither of them mastered the dialect he speaks, which gives a character of thoroughness and fabricating any scene for them, but their satire came worse than the tone of Mina Masoud, who seems to have made a great effort to master the Egyptian colloquial.
The scenario of the film has also been excessive in the number of evil characters, we have three main bad guys, and a non -major villain, distracting the spectator’s attention and pushing it later for lack of attention.
“In the Ezz Al -Dahr”, a semi -first experience for each of his director and author, and certainly is an ambitious experience that seeks to compete in a cinematic type that has his fans, and his director has also become in the Egyptian cinema.
