Last February, the Presidency Foundation -a collective body that originated after the death of the party leader Al -Sadiq al -Mahdi To temporarily manage his affairs- withdrawing the assignment of Fadlallah Barma Nasser from the position of the designated president, and the appointment of Muhammad Abdullah Al-Doma instead of him, but the current in support of Nasser rejected the decision, considering that the Foundation is a consultative body that does not have executive powers, and that the only party authorized to isolate the president is the General Conference.
There is also another current in the Umma Party, as the Secretary -General of the confident Party in the Democratic Civil Alliance of the Revolutionary Forces “Samoud” headed by Abdullah Hamdouk participates, and the party’s leader, Sadiq al -Sadiq al -Mahdi, the position of Secretary -General of the Alliance.
Observers believe that these developments will exacerbate the differences within the party, which has been in turmoil since the departure of its sincere leader in November 2020.

A soft coup

In another development, Burma Nasser headed today, Wednesday, a meeting of the Coordination Council in the Umma Party, and in a statement approved the illegitimacy of the party leaders held in Port Sudan, and considered it a departure from the party’s principles, values and heritage, and said that the meeting’s outputs do not represent the party’s position or its constitutional institutions.
The council condemned the approach that the government takes, and said that it repeated the practices of the former “rescue” system of domination, corruption and fragmentation of political forces, consisting of civilian facades to enable a coup authority that lacks legitimacy.
In an escalatory step, the support group announced, at the conclusion of a meeting in Port Sudan, its full support for the decision of the Presidency Foundation issued on February 24, which ended the assignment of Fadlallah Barma Nasser, and appointed the Dumat as the party assigned to the party.
The meeting, according to leaders who spoke to Al -Jazeera Net, expressed their support for the directions of the Presidency Foundation, including its pro -appointment to appoint Kamel Idris as Prime Minister, confirming their rejection of any guardianship of his executive decisions.
They also criticized the statement of the head of the political bureau and said that it represents Nasser’s position and group, and that the office has not met for a long time and no one has delegated to talk on his behalf.
Regional polarization

According to the spokesman, the current conflict in the party has regional and ethnic dimensions, as Burma Nasser and the leaders that support him of social components are descended from a large segment of its sons in the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces, while the domain was governor of West State Darfur Which accused the forces of committing a collective genocide against an influential tribal entity there affiliated with it.
The researcher suggested that the party is divided – at the case of its institutions meeting – in light of the current situation, expecting the continuation of internal conflicts until the war stops and the political scene changed.
As for political science professor Khaled Ismail, he believes that the absence of Sadiq al -Mahdi after more than 40 years of his leadership of the party, and the absence of leadership with his qualifications, experiences and symbolism led to a tremor of the Umma Party, and he became in a state of liquidity, and what he is currently witnessing is due to the weak leadership and the multiplicity of influence centers.
Ismail believes in an interview with Al -Jazeera Net that the solution to the party’s crisis lies in holding a general conference to elect a new leadership, and to consider it from social and regional components, and the distribution of leadership positions in accurately, according to the party’s inherited traditions since its inception.
