The Association of Southeast Asian States announced (جبن(Algeria and Uruguay joining the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia during the 58th meeting of the association’s foreign ministers.
The Friendship and Cooperation Treaty in Southeast Asia is a pivotal document that frames the principles of Asian’s relations with countries from outside the region, foremost of which is respect for sovereignty and the settlement of conflicts by peaceful means.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Ataf told Al -Jazeera Net that his country’s motivation to join the treaty is to strengthen relations with all “ASEAN” countries, adding that Algeria is concerned with benefiting from the “ASEAN” experience, which succeeded in providing a successful model for close cooperation and real partnership.
Ataf said, “We are very modest. International law And the Charter of the United Nations Respect for common principles and interests, which is what ASEAN is working on, “noting that the world is going through a difficult stage that calls for the” ASEAN “model.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, Mario Lopetekin, stressed the need for the cooperation of the Latin America and Southeast Asian regions in international peace, environment and economy issues, which makes his country joining a cooperation agreement with ASEAN, important and vital.
One of the urgent cooperation issues that Ecuador seeks with the “ASEAN” states is artificial intelligence, according to Lopetekin, who stressed the need to use technology to face common future challenges, and to bring about change in global behavior from competition and hostility to cooperation and integration.
The Ecuador Foreign Minister referred to the “Brix” summit that was held in Roy de Jiro, Argentina earlier this week, which he said is similar to the diversity in that it included more than 30 countries from different regions in the world.
Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamed Hassan welcomed Algeria and Ecuador’s joining the friendship and cooperation treaty, describing their signature on the treaty as a milestone in the history of the agreement.
The ASEAN Association was established in 1967, and it includes 10 member states: Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Bronay, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.
