An investigation published by the British Guardian newspaper revealed that a European company made major components of bombs that killed at least 100 Palestinian children in Gaza Strip last year.
According to the newspaper, the MBDA company, which is considered the largest European missile manufacturer, owns a factory in the US state of Alabama, produces “wings directed” to the GBU-39 bomb made by Boeing, and thousands have been shipped to Israel It was used in multiple air strikes, killing hundreds of Palestinians.
The newspaper’s investigation pointed out that the “wings” made by the European missile company managed to direct these bombs after being released towards its target accurately.
The company is located in France and has branches in both the United Kingdom and Germany, and it also owns factories in other countries among them US.
Hundreds of deaths
The Guardian newspaper said that it was achieved through open source information and analyzes provided by arms experts, from 24 cases in which Israel used a “GBU-39” bomb in attacks that killed civilians in the Gaza Strip, and explained that among the dead in all these cases is children.
She emphasized that the bombs that were achieved from their use in Israeli attacks caused the killing of more than 500 Palestinians between January and May 2024.
The newspaper pointed out that many of these Israeli raids occurred at night, without warning, and targeted schools and camps that were resorted to displaced Palestinian families.
The Guardian said that many of these Israeli attacks were investigated by the United Nations Amnesty InternationalAnd that these investigations concluded that they were up to war crimes.
Limited restrictions
The Guardian indicated that the European company continued its contracts with Boeing, although British Foreign Secretary David Lami canceled 29 licenses to export weapons to Israel, due to fears of the violation of international humanitarian law, but the ban is limited to direct exports from Britain It does not include foreign companies branches.
The newspaper stated that the United Kingdom, Italy and France signed the arms trade treaty that prevents the export of weapons that may be used to commit crimes, while the United States did not sign this treaty.
The British newspaper pointed out that MBDA confirmed that Boeing has contracted with it to purchase the wings used in the aforementioned bombs, and said that the company indicated that it “adheres to all national and international laws related to the arms trade in the countries in which they operate, all of which have export policies and strict export controls.”
