The Ukrainian Security Agency announced the arrest of an official of the Anti -Corruption Agency suspected of spying in favor MoscowAnd carrying out dozens of raids of the agency’s offices that denied these accusations.
The Ukrainian authorities claim that investigators in the National Anti -Corruption Office conveyed information to Russian intelligence through Ukrainian exiles in Russia.

In a statement, the National Office for Anti -Corruption reported that at least 70 homes were searched, which affected at least 15 of its employees. The head of the National Anti -Corruption Office, Simin Criffonos, canceled a scheduled business trip to Britain.
An investigator of the National Anti -Corruption Office was also accused of dealing with Russia.
The Ukrainian Security Agency explained that the employee in the National Anti-Corruption Office “worked in the most elite and confidential unit in the agency, which is the D-2 unit, and spied for the Russian intelligence services.”
The security apparatus did not reveal the identity of this official, but he indicated – in a statement – that he carried out large raids in the headquarters of this government agency and the prosecutor specialized in fighting corruption.
For its part, the agency confirmed that the suspect had previously undergone a joint inspection with the Ukrainian security apparatus, but it did not reveal “any evidence” indicating the accusations against him. “There is no evidence of his participation in activities against the state,” she said.
The agency had indicated – earlier – that it “considers the legality of the actions taken, including the use of force against an employee”, without providing more details.
A video posted by the Ukrainian security apparatus showed gunmen wearing military uniforms coming out of the suspect out of a car, and they were thrown into the ground before they were restricting it. The detainee faces the prison sentence for up to 15 years.
The Anti -Ukrainian National Corruption Agency – which was established after the field of Midan in 2014 that brought the Western supporters to power in Kiev – is responsible for fighting rampant corruption in Ukraine, which hinders its aspirations to join European Union.
Ukrainian media recently spoke about increasing concerns about the government’s pressures and members of civil society who are fighting corruption.
