A 35 -year -old man was killed in a terrible accident on Tuesday morning, after he was pushed into a plane engine at El Caravago International Airport, in northern Italy.

According to the Italian Corriere Sera Serra and the British metro, the accident occurred at about 10:20 am local time, while a Volotia plane was preparing to take off towards a Spanish city.

According to security sources at the airport, the victim was neither the crew nor among the passengers, but rather illegally stormed the airport campus.

Reports indicated that the man entered an area not intended for public traffic near the passenger building, and left his car nearby, then he started running towards the arrival area on the ground floor, before he penetrated a security door leading directly to the aircraft parking area.

In tragic moments, the man rushed to the plane while its engines were in the operating mode in preparation for take -off, to be tied into one of the engines, which led to his death immediately amid the crew’s astonishment.

Security and safety teams were quick to stop the operations on the runway and close the area concerned, while the Italian authorities began opening an urgent investigation to find out the motives of the man and how he was able to overcome security measures in one of the busiest airports in the country.

For its part, Volotia has not yet issued an official statement regarding the accident, while local media reported that the authorities have retracted monitoring records and analyzed the victim’s backgrounds to see if he suffers from psychological disorders or other motives behind this unfamiliar behavior.

The accident resulted in the abolition of several flights and converting them into other airports. Volotia confirmed to the Metro newspaper that one of its planes was a party to the accident, with 154 passengers and 6 crew members on board.
