An Arab poet, a princess Abbasid, and the sister of the Abbasid caliph Harun al -Rashid, in which she wrote poetry and saddened a lot from his death until she moved away from writing and the life of fun and singing, before returning to poetry thanks to Al -Ma’mun, son of the caliph.
The episode (6/1025/10) of the “Reflections” program highlighted the march of Ali Bint Al -Mahdi, who was born in 160 AH, and she is the daughter of the caliph Al -Abbasi Al -Mahdi Ibn Al -Mansour, and her mother was bought for Mahdi in his father’s life.
Princess is a wealthy and she had a lot of neighborhoods, and he knew about her as an ingenious woman, who was easily able to have a position in her community, although she was tending to avoid appearing in public life.
She maintained her close relationship with her caliph’s brothers, especially as she grew up at the hands of her half -brother Harun al -Rashid after the death of her father.
Princess Aliya – also known as Abbasah – became famous, similar to her half -brother Ibrahim Ibn Al -Mahdi, for playing and poetry, and it was said that she was skilled, and she was the most talented. Most of her news quoted the book “Songs”.
Her songs dealt with the topics of love, friendship and nostalgia to the homeland, as well as her brother, Caliph Aaron, and attacked a fierce attack by her opponents and the state’s opponents.
And she said in her brother Al -Rasheed when she visited her once:
Your sister, you have greeted you with grace
We do not promise her a long time
Except immortality and that near you, sir
Still near and stay long
And I praised my Lord in answering my invitation
And I saw Hamdi a little
Princess Aliya said that her brother, Al -Rasheed, was punished for not calling her with her sister to a meeting:
I have not forgotten, and we have called my friends
And I was a remembrance of Gadi
I am the one who can not stand forever your division
He separated me, my brother, from the length of deportation
Princess was married to one of the Abbasid princes, but his news is few.
When her brother, the caliph, died, she was sad and moved away from the life of fun and singing, but she returned to write poetry because of the safe (Ibn Al -Khalifa) and died in the year 210 AH in Baghdad and the safe prayed for it.
