Writer Brem Thaker – in a report published by the American “Olive” website – reviewed an exclusive certificate for a survivor of the attack by Israeli fighters on the American ship “USS Liberty” on June 8, 1967.
The writer said that this attack – which lasted about an hour – the latest 821 holes in the ship’s structure, killed 34 members of its crew and wounded 171 others, or two -thirds of the crew, in the fiercest attack on an American ship since World War II.
“We received instructions not to talk about the attack, or to face major problems.”

The writer quoted Shafar His saying, “I remember the incident as if it occurred yesterday. Early June 1967, the USS Liberty ship was sent to Mediterranean Sea near Sinai Peninsula Egyptian to collect intelligence information “in conjunction with the outbreak War 67.
The witness – who was working as a communications technician and a Morse code operator on the ship – recalls that the crew saw the Egyptian coast smoke, and he felt nervous from the approaching battles, but everyone felt comfortable when military planes appeared carrying the star of David, thinking that they were friendly planes.
Shafar continues that on June 8, he was doing some tasks with one of his colleagues, while others were enjoying the sun, and then the disaster occurred suddenly, as a fighter plane passed at a very low altitude and opened fire with the aim of killing the largest possible number of people.

Shafar confirmed that he believed at that time that the attack was from the implementation of the Arabs, and stated that with the continued attack, his colleagues rushed inside, and the missiles began to penetrate the metal structure of the ship and all the crew became in danger.
The writer quotes Shafar as the Torbid boats bearing what appeared to be Israeli flags that approached the ship, which made the crew at the top comfortable thinking that they came to help, but the boats began firing rockets and shells on the ship, and then it became clear who is the attacking party.
Shafaf was in a room that was hit by an Israeli Torbid with one of the most deadly strikes on that day, and he said, “I was killed in the room where I was 25 people immediately,” and the attackers initiated the shooting boats as well, and the attacks did not stop until more than an hour later.
