End Barcelona Football is one of the most difficult financial seasons in its history, by paying the last batch of postponed salaries for players and employees dating back to the 2020 financial crisis.
During the era of the former President of Barca, Josep Maria Bartomeo, the economic situation and the repercussions of the Corona club were forced to reach agreements to postpone the payment of the salaries of most players and the technical staff.
The deferred amount was divided to 8 batches, extending from December 2021 to June 2025, and the last batch that took place today, June 28, 2025, the end of this commitment.
The most prominent beneficiaries
In total, about 121.7 million euros of salaries were postponed, and the last batch was paid, at a value of 16 million euros, for 20 players from the first team, and 4 members of the technical staff.
The player had the largest amount of unpaid salaries was the legend Lionel MessiWith 47.6 million euros, the last of which is 5.96 million euros recently paid.
Other prominent names that were part of this agreement were batches: Samuel Umtiti (9.9 million euros), Sergio Busquets, Antoine Griezmann, Jordi Alba, Philip Coutinho, Othman Dembele, Mirlem Pjanic, and even former coach Ronald Koman.
This step represents the end of a difficult period for Barcelona and put an end to the accumulated debts from the past, and confirms the club’s commitment to financial stability.
