By the next World Cup in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada, football may witness a change of one of the laws that extend for more than 134 years, according to the British newspaper “The Sun”.
While the decision requires the approval of the International Football Association (IFAB) (IFAB) Approval of Laws, there is increasing support for the idea of converting the penalty to one kick.
The Sun newspaper revealed that prominent football characters believe that in most cases, it gives a penalty of hand or error within the penalty area (the penalty kick) the attacking team is a much greater opportunity to score a goal and that giving him a second opportunity to score from the counted ball is an additional additional advantage.
The other argument is that making the penalty kick one time, similar to the hockey rules for the penalty kick, will end all the controversy over the “infiltration” of the players, because that will be related.
Under the amendment of the proposed law, the play will be resumed automatically with a dead ball after the implementation of the first kick, either the starting kick from the middle line if the penalty kick is recorded, or a goal kick if not scored, regardless of whether the goalkeeper has removed the ball back or out of the field.
This means that famous moments like Harry Kane’s bounce in additional time to beat Denmark after Casper Schmeichel tackled the penalty kick in the Euro 2020 semi -finals will not be counted anymore.
Possible changes in laws are discussed at the highest levels, as football officials aim to improve the game before the first World Cup of 48 teams.
Although the timetable is short, as any amendments must be agreed by the end of February to be valid in the 2026 championship, there is an increasing momentum in favor of rewriting root laws.
