The Ethiopian Ministry of Defense organized a celebration marking the reception of the first batch of naval students returning to the country, after finishing their studies and training them abroad for 6 years in the fields of engineering and various marine technical specialties.
These graduates are the first naval cadres to qualify outside Ethiopia Since Eritrea’s independence in 1993, when Ethiopia has lost its port on Red Sea This turned the country into a locked state.

The Ethiopian Navy Commander, Lieutenant General Kindo Jazo, said that this batch represents a new start towards re -establishing a naval force capable of protecting the country’s interests and addressing any threats that may affect its national security.
The statement of the Ethiopian Ministry of Defense did not specify the countries or institutions in which these officers received their training, however Addis Ababa Cooperation agreements have already signed with several countries, the most prominent of which are Russia France And Italy, to provide training programs for Ethiopian marine cadres.
In May, Ethiopia revealed that it formed a new naval police force assigned to ensure security about Renaissance Dam Ethiopian with the start of its huge artificial lake.
