The Japanese company “I Space”, which works in the field of moon exploration, has announced the failure of its “Reeselins” vehicle to land on the moon, due to a malfunction in the laser orientation tool.
This is not the first time that the company had a problem, as its first vehicle was crashed in 2023 due to a software error.

Lesrie error
The vehicle tried to land in the “Bahr Al -Barada” area on the surface of the moon, but during the landing, the vehicle used a laser navigation tool called “laser -range” to measure the distance between the vehicle and the surface of the moon.
According to Statement Official from the company, a defect occurred in this tool, as it was slow at work and did not measure the distance properly, and because of this imbalance, the vehicle continued to go down at a high speed of about 42 meters per second, so it hit the surface of the moon and lost the vehicle’s connection 5 seconds before the collision.
The crash was confirmed through pictures of the moon, sent by the NASA tropical vehicle, as it appeared that it had crashed and scattered on the surface of the moon
“Resill” carried 5 scientific tools on board with different customers, including waterproof analysis equipment, from Takasagu thermal Engineering Company, and the experience of food production, an independent unit from Yellena, both Japanese.
The mission on board was also carried on a deep space radiation probe, developed by the Department of Space Science and Engineering, at the Central National University in Taiwan, with a souvenir panel developed by the Bandai Namco Institute for Japanese Research, which is designed similar to the “World Century Charter” from the animated movie “Mobile Sut Gandam UC”.
Besides, the “Rezelins” carried a small mobile vehicle, developed by i Space-Europe, which will explore the landing site, gather moon soil, transfer data to the vehicle, and will be equipped with a shovel, and a high-resolution camera installed in the front.

Private companies
Among the 7 attempts to drop on the moon by private companies in recent years, only one attempt, Firefly Erospace, a Texas -based flight and a private space -based space, whose Blogost’s vehicle has successfully fell in March 2025.
The Houston -based “Interteve Machens” company had landed in the “Odysseus” vehicle on the surface of the moon, but the landing was accompanied by some challenges, which made it partial success.
Blue Ghost and Rezelins launched together on January 15 on a SpaceX missile, which traveled a huge distance exceeding 3.5 million kilometers before the two vehicles entered the moon on February 13.
IS Space plans to make a third decline in 2027 in cooperation with NASA, as well as a fourth planned mission.
During that period, the company will add additional tests and improvements at a cost of more than $ 10 million to improve the performance of the vehicle,
External experts will also participate in reviewing the accident, and the company will cooperate more closely with the Japanese Space Agency in the technical aspects.
The future of travel for space
Private companies play an increasing role in exploring space, a traditional field dominated by government agencies.
Private companies often provide an innovative approach and an effective solution in terms of cost to the complex space tasks, because their competitive nature drives technological progress and operational efficiency.
In addition, the satellite missions market is widely expanding, from the deployment of satellites – a scope that all countries of the world are currently interested – to space tourism, which is a promising domain in the future.
The partnerships between private companies and government agencies – such as the NASA “Klabs” program – managed to share resources and expertise, accelerate the task schedules and expand scientific research.
