From Via to Marisca, Italian trainers make the history of Chelsea sports

|

Italian coach Enzo Marisca strengthened the historical relationship that brings Chelsea club with the Italian football club, after he led the London team to achieve two major titles during one season, the most prominent of which was the 2025 Club World Cup, in the first version of the new championship with its expanded system, after a 3-0 overwhelming victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

This coronation made Marcelca the latest chapters of the long love story between Chelsea and Italian coaches, which began more than a quarter of a century ago. Italian heritage in Stamford Bridge is not just a presence on the side lines, but rather a series of successes and championships made by 7 Italian coaches.

The beginning of the story with Vieli

The late Gianluka Viyali was the first to combine the honor of playing and training in Chelsea, and he succeeded in leading the team to win 5 titles, including the European Cup Cup and the European Super Cup, and set the foundation stone for the club’s confidence in the Italian school.

Ranieri .. style without coronation

After him, Claudio Ranieri, the man whom the audience loved for his ideas and plans, came, but he did not succeed in translating his performance into titles in 4 years of work.

Ancelotti and De Matteo .. King of achievement

Legend Carlo Ancelotti entered history from its widest doors in his first season (2009-2010), when he led Chelsea to achieve the local dualism (League and Cup).

It was followed by Roberto de Matteo, who received the team in difficult circumstances in 2012, and achieved European glory led by “Blues” to win the first Champions League title in the club’s history, along with the FA Cup.

Conte and Sari .. intensity and intelligence

Antonio Conte received the Chelsea training in 2016, and returned the team to the summit by scoring the Premier League with its bold plans (3-4-3).

It was followed by Mauricio Sari, who led the team to crown the European League after crushing Arsenal in an exciting final, knowing that his career with the team was limited to a single season.

Marcelsa .. Return to the World Summit

The Inzo Marisca era began with Chelsea in June 2024, and quickly adapted to Stamford Bridge, taking advantage of the philosophical background he gained from his work as an assistant to Pep Guardiola in Manchester City, and from a young man who is thirsty for success.

The start was not perfect, but Marisca ended the season with the perfect scenario:

  • Qualify for the Champions League.
  • Corering the European Conference League (4-1 on Real Betis).
  • Coking Club World Cup after amazing performance against Paris Saint -Germain.

With this achievement, Marcica becomes the seventh Italian coach to lead Chelsea, and adds two new titles to the club’s coaches record, who have 13 championships in their name, which enhances the prevailing belief in “Stamford Bridge” that the Italians – especially as coaches – are the main equation in the success of the blue team.
