The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned today, Sunday, that the repeated threats to evacuate and the constant bombing of the hospital surroundings threaten the exit of the remaining medical facilities from service, in light of the sharp deterioration of the health situation due to the continuous Israeli aggression on the sector for more than a year and a half.

The ministry said, in a statement, that the working hospitals are facing worsening difficulties in providing health care, due to the lack of medical supplies and the insecurity of medical staff and patients in reaching health facilities. She added that the unstable security conditions hinder the work of medical teams and confuse the efforts to respond to emergency cases.

The statement pointed out that the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis is the main health center in the southern sector, and it receives hundreds of patients and wounded daily, warning that stopping him will have an irreplaceable catastrophic implications.

The Ministry called for urgent intervention to ensure the protection of health facilities and provide safe passages for the arrival of supplies, medical cadres and patients, stressing that temporary solutions are no longer sufficient in light of the escalation of medical needs and the absence of stability.

The Ministry also expressed its concern that the Israeli authorities ignore the demands of international institutions related to hospital securing and ensure the flow of medical and humanitarian aid to the sector.

In a related context, the Ministry of Health announced that hospitals received 100 dead and 605 wounded from last Friday until this morning, raising the total number of victims in the sector since the war began on October 7, 2023 to 55 thousand, 297 martyrs, 128 thousand and 426 injured.

The ministry explained that among these, five thousand and 14 martyrs and 16 thousand and 385 injured have fallen since the ceasefire agreement collapsed in mid -March.

The ministry stated that 42 people have been killed and more than 380 others were injured during the past two days while they were waiting for food aid in distribution sites across the sector, highlighting the increasing risks facing civilians even outside the areas of direct confrontations.
