Deny Paris Grand Mosque The assassination of Tunisian Hisham Mirawi in France last Saturday, describing him as “a terrorist, racist and hostile act”, amid an escalating wave of hatred against Muslims in the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Dean of the Great Mosque, Shams Al -Din Hafeez, expressed his condemnation in the most expressive of this crime, “that is indescribable violence, which was referred to the National Prosecution for Combating Terrorism.”
Hafeez called for a full light on “the facts and motives of the perpetrator, who was killed in the cheese of Hisham Mirawi, the Tunisian citizen, and his neighbor, and injured another man of Turkish nationality.” The statement announced the full solidarity of the Paris Grand Mosque with the victim’s family and the Tunisian community.
The assassination of Mirawi comes a few weeks after the killing of a young Muslim woman called Abu Bakr Sisi Inside a mosque in France with treacherous stab wounds.
The dean of the Grand Paris Mosque said that “the blind and barbaric hatred itself struck France in 2025,” calling for “urgent and patriotic awareness about the danger of anti -foreigners and racism anti -Islam.”
He stressed that the time has come to ask about the promoters of hate speech in political and media circles, who said that they “wreak havoc and lead to very dangerous facts amid impunity.”
On Monday, the Prosecutor in the city of Draginian, in southern France, announced, on Monday, that a Tunisian man was shot dead by his French neighbor, on Saturday, in the town of Boujuj Sur Arjun, and confirmed that the investigation is underway as a crime with racist motives.
He also stated that a 25 -year -old Turkish citizen was injured during the attack, as he was fired in his hand and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The prosecutor said that the suspect is a 53 -year -old man who practiced shooting sport, and shot his Tunisian neighbor from a firearm, indicating that the crime was accompanied by racist and hate publications on social media from the accounts of the suspect, before and after the crime.
Official data issued last March showed that the French police recorded a 11% increase in racist, anti -foreign or anti -debt crimes during the year 2024.
France is home to the largest Muslim community in Europe, as it is estimated at more than 6 million people, equivalent to about 10% of the country’s population.
