The President of the Italian Football League, Itessio Simonie – Tuesday, announced that the Italian Super Cup will be held for the fourth time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but in December instead of January.
“The Super Cup dates are December 18 and 19 for the semi -final matches, and 22 of it for the final,” Simonie said after the association’s general assembly meeting.
He added, “We do not yet know the place of holding these matches. Is in Riyadh or Jeddah, the decision belongs to the Saudis, I tend more to Jeddah, but we do not have the possibility of choosing.”
The Italian Super Cup has been held since 2023 with the participation of 4 teams: the league champion, his runner -up, the cup champion and his runner -up.
The 2025 Napoli champions will include the runner -up, Inter Milan, the Cup champion, Milan and Summer.
Milan won the last version of the Super Cup last season, achieving his first title since 2022 by beating his traditional rival Inter 3-2.
Simonelli also talked about the possibility of transferring the league match between Milan and Komo to Australia next February.
“We have submitted an official request to the Italian Federation, the European Football Association (Wiva), and the International Football Association (FIFA),” he said.
“It is a long and complex process, but we have not received any negative reactions yet, and we have come to this idea because San Siro will be closed during the 2026 Winter Olympics.”
He continued, “We have a commitment to find another stadium, and we seek to turn this into an opportunity to promote our hero abroad.”
The San Siro Stadium-which Inter Milan and Milan will play their home matches-will be the scene of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Courtina-Meliano (6-22 February 2026) on February 6, 2026.
