The fuel crisis in the West Bank due to the escalation between Israel and Iran and fears of its exacerbation Economy news

The Palestinians face bWest Bank For the third consecutive day, a great scarcity of fuel, as they live an Israeli closure, stressing the crossings and between cities and villages, amid expectations to provide fuel to the stations today, Sunday.

Since Israel has begun to bomb Iran, the Palestinians have woke up in the West Bank, especially in the north, in cities such as Nablus AndQalqilyaOn a severe fuel crisis, the quantities that were stored with almost noon hours were ran out, and people scrambled in thousands to refuel and store it.

The Palestinian citizen, Yasser Al -Sheikh, tells how he returned to his home in Balata camp Near the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank, before he could complete his journey because he was unable to refuel from any fuel station in the city.

Rush on fuel stations

After many attempts, most of the fuel stations in the city were answered, the sheikh did not have anything, and he barely returned to his home before he lost the last drops in his vehicle, which began to indicate its hour to the near depletion of the remaining quantity remaining inside it.

The sheikh says that he does not know when the fuel will be provided, but he continues to follow up the communication sites to find out the latest news and places to provide fuel, and he adds that some of the stations owners said that they received promises to provide it today, Sunday.

In his interview with Al -Jazeera Net, he confirms that he will not bring his vehicle for his work in the center of Nablus, and he will use public transportation that also faces a crisis due to running out of fuel.

The crisis was actually present by the taxi driver, Iyad Salem, who said he fully mobilized his car of gasoline, filled 4 other gallons (the 16 -liter gallon), and this cost him about 170 dollars.

Salem tells Al -Jazeera Net that he had to fill this amount due to his need for it, as he works as a taxi driver, and he adds, “My modern vehicle works with fuel and electric energy together, and for this you will suffice the amount of fuel that I bought for about a month.”

According to Salem, there was no crisis at the moment of his arrival last Friday at the fuel station in Nablus, but only hours after the news of the Israeli attack on Iran spread, people rushed and the fuel began to shrink inside the fuel stations that began to determine the amount sold to citizens.

Promises of supply

Officially, although the Petroleum Authority announced that work is underway to provide fuel and gas supplies as usual today, citizens are still living in a state of confusion due to lack of fuel, and many have lined up since the morning hours at fuel stations waiting for his arrival.

In an official statement, Al -Jazeera Net, the head of the Petroleum Authority, called on the Petroleum Authority, called on the citizens to not rush to the gas stations, noting that they are continuing their procedures in coordination with the Civil Affairs Authority and jurisdiction to supply fuel today, Sunday.

Meanwhile, the citizens circulated information through the communication sites, according to which Israel will supply hydrocarbons today to the West Bank, and the sale will be seized for each vehicle with only about 30 dollars, which reflects a feeling of fear of repeating the crisis, and that Israel may not provide the Palestinians in large quantities as it was before.

For his part, Yasser Al -Shaka, who is the owner of a fuel station in the center of Nablus, says that, since dawn on Friday, he witnessed a great exaggeration of the purchase of fuel, which led to the inventory of his inventory only after hours.

The capacity of the truck that supplies the fuel with fuel ranges between 25 thousand liters and 38 thousand liters, a third of gasoline and their weakness of diesel, and the quantity is usually sufficient for 3 or 4 days, but it was not so this time.

He adds that Israel determines – usually – the required quantity for the Palestinian market, and sends it to the Palestinian Petroleum Authority, which in turn distributes it to merchants in the West Bank, each according to his need, indicating that he does not know how to be distributed this time.

Al -Shaka explains that the Israelis are always afraid of crises and do not bear it and announce the state of emergency, and that they are primarily concerned with themselves and their need, and do not care about the Palestinians.

“Our economic situation is always linked to the political situation,” he says.

Al -Shaka asserts that health, ambulance and emergency authorities have priority, followed by security and the citizen after that, and notes that “the problem we have in culture, and we have to control our behavior and only fill quantities that are appropriate to our need and allow others.”

For his part, the economist, Muayyad Afaneh, believes that the supply is used – usually – regularly and there is no crisis, but the citizens ’fear immediately after Israel embraced the war, their demand for filling fuel increased, which created a shortage of it, and this coincided with the end of the week and Israel closed the crossings, and the Saturday holiday.

Although it does not appear yet if Israel will reduce or narrow the Palestinian quantities for the Palestinians, Afna has really warned against the exacerbation of the crisis if Israel continues to close the barriers and prevent fuel arriving at fuel stations in one way or another.
