With the intensification of the military confrontation between Iran and Israel, another parallel front flared up on the media yard, where the two parties fight a violent narrative battle aimed at dominating the novel and directing public opinion, amid restrictions on press freedoms
The episode of the “Observatory” program on (6/26/23) dealt with this propaganda conflict that focuses on the military battle, highlighting the tools that the two parties use to devote their two pictures, whether through the officially published sections or that citizens publish, while evoking the strict control aspects, especially on the Israeli side.
Since the dawn of June 13, and after the Israeli air attack on Tehran, a fierce media confrontation broke out in parallel with the bombing, and Iran and Israel began extensive propaganda campaigns to confirm their narratives of facts and direct them to serve the goals of the war.
While Tehran has taken measures to control the publication and interaction on social media, the censorship in Israel seemed more fierce, as it began to restrict the foreign media, and stressed the screws on photographers and correspondents, even those supporters of it, such as “Fox News”.
The war war was the most prominent title. The Iranians showed pictures of the wreckage of Israeli marches to prove the effectiveness of their defenses, while Tel Aviv broadcast accurate scenes of its raids on Iranian nuclear facilities, accompanied by three -dimensional photos and records to target prominent Iranian leaders.
Visual war
The visual war increased with every attack, as the Iranian Revolutionary Guards broadcast clips of its missiles that start from its platforms; Heavy flame scenes document the bombing of Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities, while the Israeli media was satisfied with highlighting its targets and hiding the damage at home.
At a time when Iran has narrowed those who publish content that threatens what it described as “psychological security for society”, the Israeli Knesset enacted a new law before the end of the first week of the war restricting publication and photography in the time of the battle, and imposing sanctions of up to 30 months in prison.
The Israeli measures included a ban on filming the bombing or moments of missile interceptions, preventing the spread of scenes of destruction on the media, and restricting foreign correspondents, especially those whom the government considers “hostile”, while confiscating the equipment of some of them and raiding their headquarters.
The ban also extended to the citizens themselves, as the episode documented the threat of settlers for journalists, including a German channel correspondent, and the National Security Minister Etamar bin Ghafir considered Al -Jazeera to a threat to Israel’s security, calling on the residents to report any cooperation with it.
The restrictions were accompanied by scenes of destruction while allowing pictures of shelters to broadcast, in an attempt to attract the sympathy of the Western audience and confirm the image of Israel as a victim, despite the failure of its defensive system to repel some strikes, including the excessive vocal attack that struck Tel Aviv on June 19.

On the other hand, the Iranian authorities allowed foreign media to visit the TV complex targeted by Israel, after 3 days of the attack, in a counter -message confirming the return of broadcasting quickly and the stability of its employees, led by the presenter Sahar Imami.
My imam appeared in a live broadcast just minutes after targeting the complex, which made it a symbol of stability and courage in the eyes of the Iranians, and suspended her pictures in the squares, and the international press covered it as a symbol of strength, and even Israeli newspapers indicated that it turned into a national icon.
With the progress of the war days, the role of the clips depicted by citizens gradually decreased, and the official account is the dominant, supported by the data of the military speakers, as the phenomenon of warnings in the other party appeared to enhance the propaganda effect.
On the third day of the war, the Israeli military spokesman issued a warning in the Persian language to the residents of Iran, followed by a statement of the Revolutionary Guards in the Hebrew language, the residents of Tel Aviv warn that leaving to avoid the danger, in a scene that reflects an unprecedented propaganda escalation.
In light of this escalation, manipulation of facts has become part of the war tactics, as the two parties hide what does not serve their accounts, and broadcast what strengthens their positions in front of their local and international audiences, so that the media battle turns into a deadly weapon parallel to the heaven’s missiles.
